Great lawn and landscaping information for Central Florida.
If you are considering a retaining wall for your property in Palmetto, Parrish, Bradenton, or the nearby areas of Florida, it may be for one of a few reasons. People often opt to install retaining walls for decorative purposes, to add extra seating around their outdoor spaces, or to prevent erosion on their property.
Learn more about the different types of retaining walls, the process behind installing them, and how long you can expect them to last.
A design, or decorative retaining wall, can be used for a few reasons, but the most popular reasons we often see are to create borders around someone's property or to build raised planter beds. Raised planter beds can add a new dimension to the overall design of your landscape, too. For a really interesting look, consider a terraced landscape bed with multiple retaining walls.
Typically, these walls are not too high. We can build them with interlocking wall blocks, pavers, or other options that present a myriad of color choices. Any of those options last for at least 50 years or more, making them a sound investment.
Building a patio in central Florida comes with several choices, such as deciding to screen it in, how large to make it, if you should add a fire pit, or what materials to construct the patio with.
At Three Seasons, we have found that there are three most popular choices for stone patios in Palmetto, Bradenton, Parrish, and nearby cities in Florida. Learn more about these stones and decide which type might be the ideal one for your residential or commercial property.
Sandstone is a type of flagstone, or natural stone, that we often use to build patios. If you have a pool area, then it is a great choice because the stone is very porous and can absorb a lot of water. This means there is less risk of slipping around the pool.
The stone also lasts for a lifetime with the proper cleaning and sealing practices in place. Sandstone comes in warm, earth tone colors such as beige, cream, orange, and light brown. This stone will be a bit costly, as it will be about $34-$43 per square foot for the materials cost. Since it does last for many years, though, it is a sound investment for any shape or size patio.
Spring has sprung, which means it is time to consider giving your Florida landscaping a nice facelift. Aside from a spring cleanup to remove any yard debris, another way to boost your landscape beds' appearance is by installing some annual flowers.
As their name indicates, annual flowers will only live for a growing season. Annual flowers have many benefits. They will bloom for months with the proper watering schedule and also do not require a lot of maintenance, unlike perennials that will need to be trimmed and pruned on a routine basis. Annuals also will sometimes shed seeds, meaning you could have new plants in the coming year.
